Can I unlock my Huawei phone for free?
Getting your Huawei handset unlocked so you can use a different network for is achievable. This however is dependant on which model you have, how long you have had the phone, whether it is under contract or which network it is locked to.
If your Huawei mobile phone is still under contract then some of the networks will unlock you for free. If you purchased the handset from a third party then it may be difficult for you to get a free unlock code.
Huawei handsets use a SIM network unlock PIN which is entered into the screen. Doing this will release you from the constraints of your current network.
Getting it free from the network.
Depending on which network you are locked to, you may be able to request a free unlock code.
- Vodafone: They will not unloc you unless you are under contract for a minimum of 30 days. After that they will unlock you for free. If you have purchased your Huawei phone from a third party you can get yourself a pay-as-you-go SIM card, wait 30 days and they will unlock you for free.
- EE: You will need to be with EE for at least 6 months before they will unlock you. It will cost £8.99. If you have purchased your Huawei phone from a third party they will not unlock you.
- O2: You can request an unlock code from O2 after 30 days into your contract. If you have purchased your Huawei phone from a third party they will not unlock you.
Using a free unlocking service.
There are many websites out there that claim to offer a free Huawei unlock code. As a general rule you should expect to complete some kind of partner offer or sign-up to a trial of a product. We don’t recommend these services as there are all kinds of hidden costs further down the line.
Using free unlock software.
We don’t know for absolute certainty, but there are software downloads available that claim to offer free unlock codes for Huawei phones. Although we cannot recommend it, one available download is DC Unlocker.
